Portable Python and NLP

After finishing my second assignment for the Data Analysis course by Jeff Leek I only have 1 week to catch up with Natural Language Processing by Michael Collins. I’m 2.5 week behind…

The last 6 months I worked mainly with the R programming language, but the NLP course uses Python as preferred language. My first experience with Python was also a Coursera course last december. Recently I had to reinstall my laptop and I’m trying to keep it as clean as possible to keep the memory available for some serious data crunching. On the Python Wiki I found a link to Portable Python… Now I have to find myself a quick refresher to Python and then back to the NLP assignment: “In this assignment, you will build a trigram hidden Markov model to identify gene names in biological text”…. OK?! Let’s watch the lectures first….

UPDATE: I found out my last assigment for the Python course is still online. Give yourself a coffee break: http://www.codeskulptor.org/#user7-ufzkjuZIYN-6.py
